Hindu Way of Governance

Exit polls of 17th Lok Sabha are out and BJP led NDA is poised to win a majority. The final results will make picture more clear but the point of analysis in this article what changed in last 5 years as compared to last 70 years of Independence ?

India of the day was born in 1947 but till 2014, the rulers of the country literally forgot that Bharat is a civilisation of  nearly 5000 years. A democratic government with secular credentials is definitely need of the day but secularism propounded by the so called secular parties was more of appeasement form.
For an instance, Rajiv Gandhi government overturned the Shah Bano Judgment of Supreme Court by a law. This move was nothing but the appeasement.
Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru is to be credited for building the democratic institutions in the country but it was more about carrying forward legacy of the British Rule. As British ignored the legacy of thousands of years that Bharat had, similar  pattern was followed by the Governments post independence.

This article isn't an attempt to critically analyse the report card of India from traditional development perspective like where India has failed or succeeded in health, infrastructure, education, law and order etc but it is an attempt to analyse the Governments performance in creating the Indic conscience in various policies of Governance.

What changed after 2014 is, as Prafulla Ketkar of Organiser states that HinduPhobia has been turned into HinduAssertion and this is what is needed to reclaim the culture that Bharat already has.
Hindu way of Governance doesn't entail rejection or ignoring the minorities but it includes reclaiming the culture that Bharat had irrespective of religious faith one practises.

First and foremost feature of Hindu Way of Governance is that each and every person got a voice and technology in the form of social media has played vital role for the same. As regards to mainstream media which was the only link between Government and citizenry, social media has bridged this gap.
Prior to 2014 social media wasn't in much use but the advent of smart phone technology gave voice to millions of people.
Traditional media played the role of imbibing it's opinions on the nation and hardly there was any voice for the common people. If traditional media was HinduPhobic, social media paved it's way for Hindu assertion.
Prime Minister Modi had already foreseen this and way back before the social media came into vogue he had his active accounts on social media as against Rahul Gandhi who became active on Twitter as late as in 2015/2016.

Secondly, Indic Renaissance or Hindu Renaissance got it's share in governance.
Movements like Save Sabarimala helped in Hindu Assertion and BJP's support to it gave voices to Hindus on large scale.

Acitivites like celebrating International Yoga Day gave voice to Indians all over world and Bharatiya Yogashastra got a global recognition.

Thirdly, BJP led NDA was in power from 1998 to 2004. Although BJP has its philosophy of Hindu nationalism, the Government of 1998 to 2004 was more based on political correctness as against in 2014 to 2019, the political correctness was done away it. During 1998-2004 hardly there was any attempt to build an ecosystem as is done by the Congress led liberals. This Government was different as it somewhat succeeded in building it's own Indic ecosystem catering to the needs of the people and more importantly common an having voice in it showing its democratic principles.

Similarly, Chanakya's grit was shown in decisions like demonetization, GST, laying down Highway networks, improving railways network, defence deals, reinvigorated foreign policy and decisions like surgical strikes and many more accolades in governance that can be quoted.

Results of the elections will be declared and whoever may  come to power, as citizens of Bharat it is our duty to question the Government of the day. Five years is definitely not enough and much needs to be achieved for Hindu Way of Governance.
